Reporting chi-square results in a statistical test depends on the hypothesis being tested and the type of procedure which was used when calculating the chi square test statistic.
The test statistic from the results is always compared with the chi-square critical values so as to either reject or not to reject the null hypothesis.
The results can also be reported using the p-value approach where the p-value is compared with the level of significance. For this procedure, the null hypothesis is rejected if the p-value is less or equal to the level of significance.
