A coefficient is a multiplicative factor in some term of a polynomial, a series, or any expression; it is usually a number, but may be any expression (including variables such as x, y, and z).
Coefficients are the number when you multiply a number and a variable. For example 26x the coefficient in that term is 26 if you have 20e the coefficient is 20. So the coefficient is the number when you multiply a number times a variable.
