Errors in hypothesis testing

There are two types of errors in hypothesis testing

1. Type I error

We commit type I error when  we reject the null hypothesis when it is true. The probability of type I error is the level of significance of the test and is denoted by $\alpha$

2. Type II error

The type II error is committed when we fail to reject the null hypotheis when it is not true or when it is false.

Type II error is denoted by (1-$\beta$) where $\beta$ is the power of the test
