A negative correlation is a relationship between two variables in which an increase in one variable is associated with a decrease in the other. For instance, the relationship between the number of hours a student participates in class and the performance.
A correlation of -0.98 is a strong negative correlation while a correlation of -0.10 would be a weak negative correlation.
Note: A negative correlation is also known as an inverse correlation
